Orly Pink Flakie Topcoat

Good morning!  Today I have something cool to show you.  Orly has two new flakie topcoats and today I have the Pink Flakie Topcoat for you.  These aren't just your average flakie polishes, they dry matte.  Pretty neat huh?  So this is one coat of Pink Flakie Topcoat over Barielle Tres Chic (from their upcoming fall collection.  I'll have this next week for you).  Tres Chic is a super dark, navy blue cream.  On one had I put my base polish then a layer of the Orly.  This combo didn't want to dry for me so I added a quick dry topcoat.  On the other hand, the one you are seeing today, I put on my base color then quick dry topcoat.  After a bit I put a coat of the Orly on top and it dried super quick.  From now on that's how I'll go about applying this one.

Both of the pictures were in the shade.  It just showed to flakies better.  I wish I was better at taking pictures of my other hand so I could show you the shiny version.  I've tried to take pictures with my left hand before but I just can't seem to get the hang of it.  What do you think?  Do you still like flakies or are you over them?  I thought I was over them but apparently I just needed a break.  Must be time to pull out my Clairvoyant and Twisted and do some manis.

Talk to you soon,

Sara

*I had a few minutes to kill before lunch the other day and stuck my head into a Sally's I don't normally go to.  Bad idea, man.  She had all the new displays up.  5 polishes later I left the store.*

Born Pretty Store Nail Foils

Press Sample

Hello!  Today I have a review of some nail foils that I received from Born Pretty Store.  I was really excited for these because I like the cool look they give.  There is quite a learning curve with these.  There are directions on bornprettystore.com but they never tell you which side to put down on the nail.  Luckily some awesome girls in a nail group were able to answer my questions.  FYI, the colorful side goes up and the plain side goes on the nail.

The directions say to put on your base color, I used China Glaze Elephant Walk, then when the polish is slightly tacky to put the foil on and press down on it then remove the foil from the nail.  No matter how many times I tried I just kept pulling my base color up.  So instead I put on my color and used a quick dry topcoat.  The next morning I put on a layer of regular topcoat, let it dry just a bit then used the nail foil.  I had much better luck this way.

So what do you think of foils?  I know I could never make it cover the whole nail but I like the cool effect this gives.  I do want to play with these some more to try and get better.  I will be sure to post more pictures when I do.  If you'd like to check out Born Pretty Store click here and if you'd like to go directly to the foils click here.  Remember there is a 10% discount code off to the right.  If you decide to try these remember to keep your patience.  Have a great day!

Until next time...

Born Pretty Store Water Decals

Press Sample

Hi everyone!  Tonight I have some super cute water decals to show you from Born Pretty Store.  I received these decals to review in exchange for giving my honest opinion.  I love these!  The colors are vibrant and they were so easy to use.  Water decals are a favorite of mine because I stink so bad at nail art.  My base color is Orly Cochella Dweller.  Then I just placed a few decals around on my nails.  Mr. MLiP and both my boys complimented me on these.

I love the ones that are meant to fit along the curve of your nail.  What do you think of these?  Born Pretty Store has tons of cool nail decorations and neat polishes.  If you click here it will take you to their store front.  If you'd like to go directly to these decals click here.  As of right now they are on sale for .99.  If you purchase any regular price items there is a discount code off to the right that will save you 10%.

Until next time,

Sara

Color Club The Uptown

Hi all!  Today I have Color Club The Uptown for your viewing pleasure.  The Uptown is a purple jelly base with flakies in it.  I'm pretty sure you could get this polish opaque with a few coats but we all know that jellies with flakies can get kinda thick so I decided to layer it.  My base color is Sation Super Nail-tural Powers, a dark purple cream.  All the pictures show one coat of The Uptown over the purple cream with topcoat.

I liked the formula of The Uptown.  It's smooth, tons of flakies in just one coat and they all laid flat.  Now I do think that you could probably get a similar look if you own Nubar 2010 or Essie Shine of the Times and layered them over a purple but I like having it all in one polish.

All the photos were taken in the shade.  All the sun pictures have wicked glare and you can't see anything.  I hope you liked this one.  I'll talk to you again soon.

Sara

*I bought this polish myself with my very own money.  I made money at work and then immediately gave it all to a very lovely woman on the internet in exchange for this polish.*

OPI You're Such a Budapest

Hey all!  Today's polish is one I wanted for so long but never picked up.  I took part in a secret swap and my lovely swap partner sent this gorgeous polish to me.  Budapest is the most perfect light purple color with a slight shimmer.  The second picture shows that shimmer a bit.  It's pretty hidden but it does help give a depth to this polish that makes it more than a plain cream.  I added Maybelline Clearly Spotted as an accent nail.

Both pictures were taken in early morning sunlight.  The shade pictures did not turn out at all so none of those today.  I hope you all have a wonderful Monday.  Talk with you soon!

My Girlie Nails

Hey guys!  I recently went to a birthday party for a super cute 5 year old girl and just had to wear a super girlie mani.  I started with China Glaze Keep Calm, Paint On, a gorgeous mint shimmer.  I used Zoya Julie for an accent nail.  Then I topped the whole thing off with a coat of Hit Polish Pretty in Paisley.  I loved this mani so so much.  It was perfect for the occasion.

Sorry for the super short post but it was this or not post at all.  What polish do you wear when you want something super girlie?

Until next time...

Zoya Giovanna

Hello everyone!!  I'm excited for today's post because it's been forever since I successfully stamped a full nail design.  Now by no means is this perfect but it's pretty dang good for me.  I started with two coats of Zoya Giovanna, an amazing metallic green.  Honestly it was the only color from their fall collection that I was interested in.  It's gorgeous all on its own.  Next I stamped the bubble image from my Mash plate 43 using Zoya Trixie.  I've tried to stamp with Trixie in the past with terrible results but the planets must have been aligned for me because it worked great.  I wanted to wear this mani forever but sadly I had to do the dishes and half of a nail peeled off.  That's weird for me.  I don't usually have issues like that.

Here's a sun picture and then a shade picture of Giovanna on her own.  So pretty!  I did have green fingers when I took it off.  My nails weren't stained but the skin around them was all messed up.  Washed off in the shower though.

Giovanna is seriously a gorgeous color with an awesome formula.  You should all run out and buy it right now.  I'll talk with you all soon.  Until then have a fantastic day!

SinfulShine by SinfulColors

Press Sample

Sun
Hello!  Today I have two polishes from the new SinfulShine line of polishes by SinfulColors.  Here's what SinfulColors has to say about it: "The new SinfulShine™ high-gloss, high shine nail polish with Gel TechTM is a self-curing polymer formula that delivers the same high shine gloss as an acrylic UV cured gel without the hassle of a special lamp.  SinfulShine™ is five times more glossy than a patent leather shoe*... now that's shine!!!"

FEATURES/BENEFITS/KEY INGREDIENTS:
Gel TechTM technology formula provides opulent, rich color and brilliant shine
Plasticizer System for smooth application and helps prevents chipping
Gloss Finish, smooth application without a special lamp
Made in the USA; Formaldehyde, Toluene and DPB free, never tested on animals

(I took that all word for word from the press release email)

First up is Man Hunt.  This is a great military green with a bit of shimmer to it.  It was opaque in two coats and the formula is pretty good.  I did have issues with the amount of polish on the brush.  It seemed that no matter how many times I wiped the brush on the bottle neck I still had too much polish on the brush.  All my pictures show two coats with topcoat because I did my nails before bed and took pictures in the morning.

Shade

Next up is Rendezvous, a mint green color.  You all know how much I love this color family.  Again this is two coats with topcoat.  I will say that this one was super shiny even before topcoat.  The formula was the same as Man Hunt.  Even the over abundance of polish on the brush was the same.  I really enjoyed wearing this color.  It went really well with my skin tone.

Sun

Shade

There are 32 shades to choose from so you know there's something for everyone.  I've heard amazing things about the topcoat from this line but I haven't been able to find it yet.  SinfulShine is available at Walgreens for $2.99.  Have you tried any of these yet?  Any favorites I should go check out?

Have an awesome day!

Sara

Pahlish Minty Fresh

Hey everyone!  Quickie post tonight for you.  This is the mani I did a while back when the nail community did a day of mint manis for Talia.  This is Pahlish Minty Fresh and an accent nail of Pahlish Valley of Ashes.  Minty Fresh is a mint with micro turquoise flakes in it.  The flakies didn't come across in photos or in real life.  The formula of the polish was great but I just didn't like the color on me.  Valley of Ashes on the other hand I seriously love.  Again a great formula although it took three coats rather than just two like Minty.

These were my first Pahlish's.  Even though I don't like the color of Minty Fresh I really did like the quality.  What do you think of this combo?

Have a great day!

China Glaze Highlight of My Summer

Hello!  Is everyone ready for the weekend?  I am for sure.  Saturday is my last day at my old job and I'm so excited.  Today's polish is China Glaze Highlight of My Summer from the new summer collection.  Let's start with what you've probably already heard.  The formula on this polish is awful.  This is four coats and topcoat.  Now if this was a pink polish I'd never wear it again but because it's the coolest mint neon color ever I will be wearing this polish over and over.  Seriously I'm so in love with this.  My accent nail is Candy Lacquer Tropical Skittles, a clear base with big, matte circles.  It was really hard to get the circles out of the bottle.  It was easier to pick them out with a toothpick than to use the brush.  Besides the color circles you see there are also pink ones but I didn't get any of those.

Can you even believe how amazing this color is?  It's really to bad about the formula because it's going to stop a lot of people from enjoying it.  Did you pick up this color?  What do you think of it?

Have a great weekend!

Sara

Hit Polish Nail Lacquer Solar Flare

Press Sample

Hey everyone!  Today I have the third polish I recieved from Hit Polish Nail Lacquer to review.  I'd like you to meet Solar Flare, a clear base with red, gold and black glitters in multiple sizes and shapes.  I layered this over a black polish because I honestly couldn't think of another color to layer it over.  My ring finger is three coats with no base color so you can really see what this glitter looks like.  All the other nails have two coats over black plus topcoat.  The formula was exactly what I've come to expect from Hit Polish.  It was easy to use and all the glitter lays flat.

I like this color combo a lot.  I just need to come up with a better color to layer it over.  If you have any ideas I'd love to hear them.  If you'd like to check out all that Hit Polish Nail Lacquer has to offer click here to visit the shop and here to visit them on facebook.

Have a great day!
