Dollish Polish Sweet Dreams Are Made of Glitter

Hey lovlies!  Today I have a quick post for you featuring Dollish Polish Sweet Dreams are Made of Glitter.  I snagged this for a really good deal on a blog sale.  Sweet Dreams is a shimmery pale mint green with multi colored glitter.  I do believe that Sweet Dreams would be buildable on it's own but I decided to layer two coats over Zoya Neely, basically the perfect cream base color for this polish.  The big glitters in the polish are a huge pain in the butt.  I had to fish them out and place them on the nail.  I did really enjoy wearing this polish though.

So what do you think?  Worth all the fishing for glitter?   I hope you all have a great day.

Barry M Prickly Pear

Good morning!  How was everyone's weekend?  We had a nice relaxing time.  I had to shorten my nails yesterday after a very intense game of basketball with my 9 yr old.  I broke one and stabbed him with another, so later this week you'll see some shorter nails for a while.  Today I have a polish that I have been wanting since the very first time I saw it.  My only access to Barry M is through Ninja Polish so I had to wait a while.  I finally got my hands on Barry M Prickly Pear from the Gelly line last week. It is a gorgeous light purple with a super shiny formula.  Application was a bit tricky until I figured out how to use it.  This one's got a bit of a learning curve for sure.  I started out with two coats but had to add a third to some nails that had some patchiness.  I decided to add an accent nail using Zoya Mira and my handy striping tape.  Obviously I didn't wait long enough to topcoat and had some smearing but it wasn't as noticeable in real life.

I can't wait to get my hands on some more of these polishes.  I seem to be quite obsessed with light purples right now.  Good thing all the spring lines are coming out now.

Thanks for stopping by!

Barielle Blue Cotton

Sun

Hi guys!  Happy Friday!  Today I have a mani for you that I am actually still wearing.  It doesn't always work out that way.  These are my nails for the weekend or at least until Sunday night.  This is Barielle Blue Cotton from the upcoming Sweet Treats collection for Spring 2013.  This is hands down my favorite from this collection.  I'll have the others up for you next week but I just couldn't wait to share this one.  Blue Cotton is a dusty teal with silver shimmer.  My favorite kind of color!  My pictures show two coats (because I'm a little obsessive that way) but I bet you could get away with one thicker coat.  The formula was a tad thick but I think that's because it's so pigmented.  I haven't used my dotting tools in a bit so I pulled them out and added different sized dots using Banana Drop and Green Apple Chew also from the Sweet Treats collection.

I hope you guys liked this and I'll be sure to get the rest of the collection up soon.  Barielle polishes can be found here and be sure to like them on facebook to stay up to date on sales and news.  I hope you all have a great weekend.  I'm aiming for laid back and relaxing but we'll see how the weekend plays out.

China Glaze Hanging in the Balance

Good morning!  Yesterday it snowed here in the Phoenix area so I decided I needed a bright happy mani.  I mean, snow?  Really?  People around here freak out if it drops a few rain sprinkles so you can imagine how crazy snow makes it.  My facebook feed looked like the weather channel.  So today I have the gorgeous blue that is China Glaze Hanging in the Balance from the Cirque collection with It's a Trap-eze as an accent.  Hanging in the Balance is amazing, although I think it may be just a touch greener than my pictures show.  This is two coats.  The formula was a tad runny but super opaque.  I can't wait to wear it this summer on my toes.  It's a Trap-eze took four coats to get rid of the vnl I had going on.  I will definitely be layering it over something else next time.  I saw it on another blog this morning layered over a mint and it was really pretty.

It was sprinkling when I took these pictures so please excuse the water drops.  I ended up with quite a few more polishes from this collection than I thought I would.  Do you have a favorite from the Cirque collection?

Until next time,

Sara

*Santa brought me Hanging in the Balance in my stocking.  It's a Trap-eze took me three trips to Sally's to find.  That's what I call dedication.*

A Valentines Day Fail

Good morning!  Sorry about the lack of posts but life's been busy here.  Every time I sat down to write a post something came up, usually something involving my boys haha.  Today I have a quick disaster of a mani to show you.  Sometimes these ideas that pop into my head work out well, like my white nails with hearts, and sometimes they are so bad they never should have happened.  This mani falls into the second category.  The base of this mani is OPI Kiss Me On My Tulips.  Then I used tape and added the purple glitter which is Jordana Celebration.  Then if that wasn't bad enough I stamped on white hearts from a konad plate.  I'm still getting the hang of my new stamper so I've got some smearing from pushing too hard.  Worst part is I was stuck wearing this for two days because I had no time to do my nails.

Oh well, can't win them all :)  I hope you all have a great day and I'll be back soon with a pretty mani to show you.

*I bought all the polishes used in this mani myself.  Someone should have warned me not to use them all together.*

My Valentines Day Nails

Good morning and happy Wednesday!  Today I have my Valentine's Day nails to share with you.  I don't usually do a ton of themed nails but I recently got a new stamper and wanted to try it out.  This is OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls as my base.  This is an amazing white polish.  It's slightly grayed out so it's not so stark and the formula was outstanding for a white.  Two coats had it almost perfect on all my nails.  If I hadn't been stamping I would have added a third coat to a few nails.  Then I stamped hearts using Zoya Rory and Carly.  They both stamp pretty well, with Carly being a tad better just because it's so much darker.

As you can see I'm not a great stamper.  My pinky nail is a big mess but honestly I love this mani.  It's fun and festive without being crazy.  Mr. MLiP and I don't celebrate Valentine's Day.  In 15 years of being together I think we've gone out once.  Do you have any fun plans to celebrate?

I'd love to see your Valentine's nails.  Drop a picture by my facebook page.  Have a great day!

*I bought these polishes myself with my own money.  I tried to resist the pink Zoyas but their summer collection gets me every time.*

Pomegranate Enchanted Lagoon

Good morning!  Today I have a new to me brand, Pomegranate Nail Lacquer.  I ordered a few polishes from them during a sale and I couldn't be more pleased.  When My polishes arrived one of them was broken so I sent an email on a Saturday and didn't expect to hear from them until Monday but I had a response back in less than 10 minutes.  My replacement polish was sent right out and I had it in a few days.  Today I have Enchanted Lagoon to show you.  Enchanted Lagoon is a great, light springy green.  This is three coats because I had a little vnl after two.  Formula was fantastic and it wore great.  I simply love this polish and can't wait to try the others I got.

Have you tried any polishes from this brand?  They just released some new colors that I would love to get my hands on.  You can buy them online here.  I hope you all have a great day!

I'm a Twisted Tart

Ok so I'm not really a twisted tart but my nails are.  Today's mani is Finger Paints Twisted over Zoya Tart.  I have a little confession about the FP.  It's been sitting in my untrieds drawer for over a year.  My sisters gave it to me for Christmas right when it came out and then it just sat there.  I considered selling it a few times when the price was a bit out of control but I just couldn't.  I finally decided it was time to wear it so what you see here today is two coats of Twisted over two coats of Tart.  Twisted is a rainbow flakie polish that went on a little sparse, so it definitely needed two coats.  Tart is the perfect 4th of July blue and was opaque in two coats.

It was overcast the morning I took these pictures so I don't have a sun shot but honestly I think it shows the flakie better like this.  Are you a fan of flakies?  I still can't decide if I love them or am indifferent to them.  Maybe I just haven't found the right color combo.  I own four of the Finger Paints flakies, Nubar 2010 and CN Clairvoyant.  Do you have any layering combos that you've loved that you'd recommend I try out?

I hope you all have a great weekend!

China Glaze Tart-y for the Party

Hello!  A few weeks ago I was in my favorite little hole in the wall nail supply store perusing the China Glaze racks and I picked up this purple that looked interesting.  I seem to be quite taken with all the pretty light purple/lavender polishes lately.  I had never heard of the name (not that I know all the polish names) so I decided to take a risk and get it.  When I got home and googled it I found it was from CG's spring collection, Avant Garden, that hasn't been released yet.  I went back to the supply store but he doesn't have any others from this collection.  This is Tart-y for the Party, a lovely lavender cream.  The formula was great.  Two coats and it was perfectly opaque and even.  There may be dupes out there but I don't own many purple creams so I am dupe free on this one.  I added a black accent on the side of each nail using tape and a black polish.  I really liked this mani a lot.  I will definitely be doing more side accents like this in the future.

You can see on my pinky that I didn't wait long enough before topcoating the black polish and it smeared a bit.  Not particularly noticeable in real life but photos bring out all the imperfections.  I hope you enjoyed today's nails.  What is your favorite way to do an accent nail?

Flower Thistle or That

Hard to believe it's Monday again but here we are.  To combat a case of the Mondays I have a polish from a new makeup line called Flower.  This is Drew Barrymore's makeup line.  It's sold exclusively at Walmart and looks to be pretty neat.  This polish is called Thistle or That.  It's a minty blue green with a very, very slight shimmer.  Pictured is three coats plus topcoat.  I added the third coat because I had some patchiness on the first few nails I painted.  Next time two coats should work since I know not to over work it now.  The formula was really easy to control.  I liked it a lot and would definitely by more from this brand.

My accent nail is Sinful Colors Luminary.  I used three coats and still had a bit of vnl depending on the light.  I really did like this mani a lot.  This is one of my favorite color combos.  I hope you all have a great day.  Until next time...

Sparkles by Julie Lost in Space

Happy Saturday lovlies!  Got a quick post today from one of my favorite indie makers.  This is Sparkles by Julie Lost in Space, a black base with many shapes, sizes and colors of glitter.  I used two coats of Lost in Space for this mani.  I then topped it with one coat of Gelous and topcoat.  I had a bit of shrinkage that is driving me nuts.  I haven't had a polish shrink in forever.
