Zoya Yara

Hello and happy Tuesday to you all!

Can someone please tell me why I took so long to wear Yara? She is such a gorgeous color. Such a pretty olive green with amazing gold glitter thrown in. This is two easy coats of Yara. The first picture and the last picture were taken in full sun. The other two were in the shade.

I just love Zoya! Out of all the Zoyas I own, and there are a lot, there have only been three that I didn't love. Areej, Stacy and Reece just didn't do it for me. So I'm curious. What is your very favorite Zoya color and your least favorite?

Have a great day!

Julep Carrie and Polka Dots

Good morning!

Today I have a mani that looks so much better in person then it does in these awful photos. This is two coats of Julep Carrie, a pretty standard pink creme. It was a pain to apply. If I was wearing it by itself I would have needed at least one more coat. Instead I decided on polka dots in black, gray and white. I used Sinful Colors Black on Black, China Glaze Recycle and Zoya Purity. Then to top it all off I added one coat of Zoya Sparkle Gloss Topcoat. I think the Sparkle Gloss is what's making my pictures look so bad. It kinda freaked out the camera. In real life I love this mani so much!

Check out these pictures and don't say I didn't warn you :)

Go ahead. Say what you think. I can take it. I will definitely be revisiting the polka dots but next time if I want extra shine and sparkles I'll put them under the dots. Live and learn, eh?

Have a great Friday!

ManGlaze Fuggen Ugly

Good Morning my fellow polish lovers!

I recently received my very first ManGlaze polish thanks to the Polished Panda. What is the Polished Panda you may ask? It's a traveling panda that brings you nail polish. I belong to a fb group called Polished Panda and there is a list. When your turn comes, you receive the panda in the mail along with a polish picked out for you from the prior person. Now I will send it on to the next girl in line and hope she likes what I pick.

Anyway, this is ManGlaze Fuggen Ugly. This is an amazing matte gray polish that still has some shimmer too it. Instant love! My accent finger is Orly Purple Pleather, then I used some stripping tape and Fuggen Ugly to make the design. I've seen this stripy accent finger on a few other blogs recently and just couldn't resist.

If you haven't already checked out ManGlaze go do it right away! If you are easily offended you may not too. Just warning you! There is some funny stuff there. Do you have any ManGlaze? I think I may need to get another.

Thanks for reading!

Essence Blossoms I Like

Hi Everyone,

Sorry my post is a little late today. I have a sick kid home from school. I am in love with today's mani. This is two coats of Essence Blossoms I Like and a coat of Essie Kisses and Bisses on top. I am completely enamored with this. I didn't get to wear it long because of the serious deep cleaning of my house before my inlaws came to town. This will be worn again soon. Check it out!

The layered pictures were all taken outside with overcast skies. The picture of I Like by itself was in the sun. Sorry about the lack of clean up on the I Like picture, I wasn't done yet but I wanted you to see how pretty it is by itself.

What do you think? I can't seem to stop layering polishes lately. What is your all time favorite layering combo?

Have a great Monday!

Essie Armed and Ready

Hello!

Today I have the new Essie Armed and Ready. This is from the new Go Overboard collection. So far this is the only one I bought but I may go back for the purple, Playdate. I think if you took all the colors in camouflage and mixed them together this is the color you would get, plus some gold shimmer. I love this so much more on my nails than I thought I would. This is also one of the most opaque Essie polishes I've ever used. The photos show two easy coats and my favorite Cult Nails Wicked Fast topcoat. Take a look.

All photos were taken in the sun. The shade shots just looked really bad. Do you have this polish yet or any plans to pick it up? This could kick Essie Pretty Edgy out of first place on my Essie list :)

Have a great Friday!

Zoya Tiffany

Good morning!

Today I have another pretty lady from Zoya. I ordered Tiffany with the People magazine promo they did a while back. I was kinda iffy about Tiffany for a while but I am so glad I got her. Zoya says Tiffany can be described as pink, peach and light copper toned foil particles accented by flecks of gold foil. I'd say that's pretty dead on. Check it out.

So what do you think? I just love Zoya's polish. I just got a few more from the most recent 2 free promo that I can't wait to try out.

Have a great day!

Guest Post: Using Nail Polish to Beat Cancer

Today I have a special post about a topic that has touched many of us. I was recently contacted by Jackie from the Mesothelioma Cancer Alliance. Cancer can be devestating on so many levels. Nail polish and care can be used to make women feel like they have some control. I hope you enjoy this as much as I enjoyed posting.

Using Nail Polish to Beat Cancer

By: Jackie Clark

A cancer diagnosis can be a terrifying thing for many women. It can often feel like a death sentence when your prognosis is mesothelioma, lung cancer, breast cancer or even leukemia. Struggling to get past these conditions can lead to serious stress and even depression. Having a poor attitude or being depressed may even contribute to your disease getting worse.

You must stay strong and powerful throughout your disease. One way that many women may think is silly, naive or ineffective is to focus on fashion and especially your nails. Focusing on something so seemingly trivial to get your mind off of your cancer diagnosis. However, this action can help boost your spirits and get you ready to fight back against cancer.

Painting your nails can help you feel beautiful in your skin. Feeling beautiful will boost your mood, improve your confidence and help focus yourself against beating cancer. This is especially true if you paint your nails with friends and family members. Try to make a habit out of getting together with your friends and family and having a "nail polishing" party.

Select colors that look great with your skin tone and your outfit. Apply the nail polish evenly and lightly to look as tasteful as possible. However, you can also look less tasteful if that will boost your mood. Go wild with your nails and get multiple colors on each hand. Look as serious or as silly as you want. Nail polish can easily be removed so you can try again.

Don't neglect the calming effect that manicures can have on your body and mind. A manicure carefully restructures your nails, making them look more beautiful than they looked before. Get regular manicures to make your nails look perfect and beautiful.

After your manicure, make sure your nails get cleaned and well polished. Polishing manicured nails makes them look even better. Get a professional nail polish job if you want them to look pristine if that is the mood you are in that day. Try to keep your nails well maintained and polished during all of your treatment process.

Whether you paint your own nails or get a manicure these simple yet calming action can make you feel strong and beautiful—this is really the key to getting over cancer. Looking and feeling beautiful in your skin gives you a focus and confidence that is going to be necessary as your treatment progresses.

I hope you all have a great day and remember it's the little things that sometimes make the biggest difference.

Color Club Blue-topia and some Finger Paints flakies

Good morning!
Apparently it's flaky week here at My Life in Polish and no one told me. As I was writing this up I realized all my posts this week have featured flakies. Seems like they are so much easier to get all of a sudden. Anyway, Color Club Blue-topia is an awsome blue polish. It went on in two easy coats. Sorry I don't have pictures of it by itself because I did my nails at night. On top of Blue-topia I layered one coat of Finger Paints Motley and Flecked. Now this wasn't my idea but when I saw in on facebook I knew I had to try it out.

Check out this awesomeness!

I'm so in love with this! I can't wait to try these same two flakies over a green. Maybe Artsy, Crafty from the same Color Club collection. Have you tried any of the FP flakies yet? What do you think?

Until next time,
Sara

Cult Nails Let Me Fly and Clairvoyant

Good morning! Today I have the amazing combo of Cult Nails Let Me Fly and Clairvoyant (aka Unicorn Puke). I love, love, love this mani. Let Me Fly is a gorgeous teal with a very pretty shimmer. It went on in two effortless coats. Just like we've all come to expect from Cult Nails.

Isn't that just amazing? Then to make it even better I added a coat of Cult Nails Clairvoyant. I'm sure you've all heard of Unicorn Puke. This is the same polish with a different name. It has multi-colored flakies in a purple tinted base. So pretty I just want to put in on everything!

Told you it was amazing! I don't even have the proper words to describe this. On a funny note, when I was trying this out on a nail wheel, I showed my husband and he said "That looks like unicorns". I know my husband has never heard of Unicorn Puke so it made me laugh.

Have a great day!

China Glaze Kinetic Candy and Essie Shine of the Times

Hi Lovelies,

I recently took a trip to my favorite nail supply store and he had a display of the new China Glaze Electro Pop collection. I only picked up one, Kinetic Candy. The only other one I considered was Electric Beat but my sister bought it so I figure I can just use hers. I had trouble with the formula on this one. It was weirdly streaky and didn't want to level out. I wasn't too worried though because I knew I was going to layer Essie Shine of the Times on top. Such an amazing combo! I loved it. The swatch of Kinetic Candy is two coats with no topcoat. Cleanup wasn't great because I knew I wasn't done yet.

Pretty color but see all that streaking.

I will definitely have to give this color another shot. Maybe it was just me. I think the right topcoat may have leveled it all out. I love Seche Vite for that reason but I hate all the shrinkage it gives. What is your favorite topcoat?

Take care,
Sara

Zoya Kotori

Hello Ladies,

Today I have Zoya Kotori to show you. I like this polish but I don't love it yet. This is three coats of Kotori. I think I should have gone with four. After putting this on and being kind of meh about it I looked up some swatches. Next time I wear it I'm going to try it over black or a dark blue cream. Here are the pictures for you to check out.

The first two photos were taken in the shade. The sun shots just didn't turn out great. I know the last one is bad but I included it to show the sheerness of Kotori.

Zoya is the brand that kicked off my love of nail polish. I have many favorites including Charla and Ginessa. What is your favorite Zoya? Did you take advantage of the promo going on right now? I did :)

Have a happy day!

China Glaze Peace on Earth

Hi All,

Today I have China Glaze Peace on Earth with Sally Hansen Glass Slipper. I picked up Peace on Earth last year when my polish obsession was just getting into full swing. It was on clearance at Sally's so I said why not. I love it! Can't believe I took so long to wear it. Sorry about the dry skin around my nails. I'm working on it I swear!

You can't really see the flakies in this last sun picture but it gives a really good idea of the color of Peace on Earth.

What is your favorite remedy to keep the skin around your nails from looking so dry? I live in AZ but still have winter skin dryness.

Take care,
Sara

Cult Nails Blackout and some more Correction Tape

sun

Hi Everyone,

Sorry I've been gone so long. Busy time of year and all. This was my New Years mani. Two coats of Cult Nails Blackout and a layer of Wet n Wild Correction Tape. My husband picked this one out. I really liked it except for the weird Seche Vite shrinkage. Usually SV shrinks my tips but this time it shrunk at the bottom creating weird lines. Strange! If I was going to wear Blackout by itself I would probably have worn three coats. I had some thin spots. Check it out and let me know what you think. Sorry I don't have any pictures of Blackout by itself but I did these nails at night, hence the SV. Usually my go to topcoat is Cult Nails Wicked Fast.

I got a new camera for Christmas so bear with me a little. My next few posts will be a mix of new and old camera shots. Today's pictures are with the new one. It's more color accurate I think but taking some time to learn.

Have a great day!
