Picture Polish Whimsy

Good morning!  Today I have my very first Picture Polish.  I've heard great things about this brand and have wanted to try it for a long time.  I finally broke down and bought Whimsy.  Oh my wow!  This polish is so so pretty in real life.  It looks good in the photos but in person it's amazing.  This is three coats of Whimsy and topcoat.  When I put the first coat on I thought I was going to be so disappointed in this polish.  Second coat still didn't have me convinced but the third one made it perfect.

It's just so pretty!  I wore this a while back so my nails are a bit shorter than what I showed you the other day.  Honestly in a few weeks you'll probably be seeing nails this length from me all the time.  I'm changing jobs and it's going to be pretty hard on my nails, so shorter will be better for me.  Anyway, what is your favorite Picture Polish?  I picked up Paradise on a blog sale recently but I really want some more.  Have a great day!

*I bought this polish myself.  It's amazing how things on Llarowe's site just jump in my cart.*

Hit Polish Nail Lacquer Peachy Keen

Press Sample

Happy Monday lovelies!  Today I have another Hit Polish Nail Lacquer that I received for review.  I'd like you to meet Peachy Keen.  My photos are all of three coats and topcoat.  I actually wish I would have stopped at two coats.  Yes there is a bit of VNL but it gave me a really cool mannequin hands with glitter look.  This is really outside the normal realm of my polish choices but I totally loved the look it gave me.

The formula was very good.  I was expecting it to thicken up on me a bit while I was using it, between the three coats and the freaky humid weather here, but it did not at all.  Each coat applied very smoothly and the glitter laid flat.

If you'd like to pick up this lovely polish or one of the many other pretties from Hit Polish, click here.  You can also keep up to date with all the goings on by giving a like on facebook.  I hope you all enjoyed today's polish.  I have one more to show you later this week.

Until next time...

*I received this polish from the company in exchange for my honest review.  All opinions are mine.*

Bettina Orchidea

Hey guys!  Quickie post for ya today.  This is Bettina Orchidea, basically the perfect light mint color.  Bettina makes great creams and this was no exception, two coats and topcoat shown here.  I used chevron decals from Make It Stick on my accent nail.

I think my accent nail kinda looks like an easter egg.  I'm not convinced that's a good thing in this case.  The bubbles on my nail are from my topcoat.  Not sure what happened there.

Have a great day!

Sara

*This polish was purchased by me after trying to get the folks at Bettina to respond to my emails for 3 months.  It is so worth it.*

Julep Etta

Hello lovely readers!  Today I have a polish to show you that was picked out by my 10 year old.  He loves green so I think that's why this one was picked.  This is Julep Etta, a lovely light green metallic polish.  This has a foil finish look to it that is just one of my favorite finishes.  This is three coats of Etta with topcoat.  Sometimes polish can get gloopy with this many coats but that was not the case here.  Super easy to work with.

I just love how soft and delicate this green is.  I can also see this being a great base for glitters.  I will definitely be wearing this again.  I know people either love or hate Julep for some reason.  Overall I've really enjoyed the polishes of theirs I've worn.

Have a great day!

Sara

*This polish was purchased by me using my own money.  I could buy more polish if they started taking monopoly money though.*

Hit Polish Nail Lacquer t.E.o.G. Nebula

Press Sample

Sun
Hello!  I have the coolest polish to show you guys tonight.  I've already scheduled my posts for the week but there is no way I could wait to show you guys this.  I received a few polishes from Hit Polish Nail Lacquer to review and I knew as soon as I opened the box that this was going to be a favorite.  This beauty is t.E.o.G Nebula (The Eye of God).  This polish has a teal shimmer base with glitters of different colors and shapes.  I have layered t.E.o.G over OPI Ski Teal We Drop on three nails and a black polish on my ring finger.  My pinky has two coats of t.E.o.G and all the other nails have one coat.  I think it's perfect for layering with just one coat.  There is plenty of glitter payoff and the teal shimmer is very visible.

I'm pretty sure you could get this polish opaque in three coats but I really wanted to conserve this beauty.  I intend to wear it lots!  I like this over the OPI more than over the black but wanted you to be able to see multiple options.  This polish will be available on July 27th at http://shop.hitpolish.com/.  You can find Hit Polish Nail Lacquer on facebook here.  Don't miss this one you guys, it's seriously cool.

Until next time...

Born Pretty Store Glitter Review

Press Sample

Hey all!  Today I have a review of circle glitters from Born Pretty Store.  These are super fun circle glitters in 12 different colors and two different sizes.  I used two different colors on each nail so you could see as many glitters as possible.  To start I painted my nails with Zoya Raven.  Then I used a toothpick with a bit of base coat (I've used topcoat in the past but it was quick dry and dried up too fast) on it to pick up a glitter and place it on my nail.  After placing the glitters where I wanted them I put on a layer of topcoat over the whole thing.

I love that the glitter comes in a variety of colors.  I do wish some of the colors were a bit more opaque because they loose a bit of their color and can look similar to other colors on the nail.  For example my pinky has blue and green glitter but they kind of all look the same.

This mani was my second attempt at using the glitter this way.  The first attempt was not very good and I had glitters popping off before I could even take pictures.  So I do think there is a bit of a learning curve here but once I figured it out it was fun.  These can be used for so many different things.  You can check out the Born Pretty Store here and the specific glitter I reviewed here.  They have a huge variety of nail art items to look at.  Also I have a coupon code that will save you 10% off your order at bornprettystore.com.  Use code FEMJ61 when you order.

So what do you guys think?  Are a fan of these or does it bother you to have things sticking up off your nails?  I hope you all have a great evening.

Elevation Hig & Hit Polish Mirage

Sun
Good morning lovely readers!  Today I have two indie polishes for you that are a perfect match for each other.  I started with Elevation Polish Hig, a lovely teal metallic polish and then added an accent nail of Hit Polish Nail Lacquer Mirage, a neutral tan base with a variety of glitters including teal.  Mirage complimented Hig perfectly.  Both polishes were great quality.  Hig took three coats (I believe, I know, I'm a bad blogger) and Mirage took two.

Shade
Aren't these two just perfect together?  I don't know that I could wear Mirage as a full mani just because I'm not a huge neutral wearer but I have many polishes that it will compliment nicely.

Until next time...

Sara

*I bought both these polishes myself.  You all know of my love affair with Hit Polish so I won't tell you all about it again.  Just kidding yes I will.  Hit Polish is awesome and you should all go get some.*

Mohda HD Beijo

Sun

Hello!  A few weeks ago I bought a mystery grab bag of nail polishes from someone in a sale group on facebook.  I normally stay away from grab bags but I decided to do this one.  The price was right and this person had great feedback so what the heck right?  I could not have been more thrilled with my box of polish.  The very first one I decided to try is Mohda Hd Beijo.  It's a sheer purple glass fleck polish.  I adore glass fleck polishes.  It's my very favorite finish.  Now this polish would require a gazillion coats to be opaque so in the interest of conserving this beauty, because I have no idea where to buy more, I layered it over Island Girl Aloha Luau.  This is two coats over the Island Girl, which by the way has a really weird runny but opaque formula.  The Mohda was super easy to use though.

Shade
Holy macaroli as my boys like to say.  I'm so in love with this it's ridiculous.  I bet this would look amazing over black or even a blue polish too.  I need to get more of these right away.  I just don't know where to find them.  Do you have any idea where I can find them?

Have a great Tuesday!

Sara

*I purchased this polish myself in a great grab bag.  Makes me wary to buy another grab bag b/c I know I will just be disappointed.*

Shimmer Jasmine

*PR Sample

Hi!  I'm back.  Did you miss me?  Did you even notice it's been a week since I blogged?  That's okay.  Between camping, my birthday and hurting my neck I just haven't had it in me to blog.  I'm back today with a reverse gradient (yes another one) of Shimmer Polish Jasmine over Barielle Ocean Breeze.  Both pictures were taken in the shade.  My sun photos didn't turn out because there is so much sparkle you really can't see any detail.

Barielle Ocean Breeze went on easy with two coats.  Jasmine was exactly what I've come to expect from Shimmer Polish.  Perfect amounts of glitter in a super smooth base.  You can find Barielle polishes here and Shimmer polishes here.

I hope you all have an awesome day and I promise not to be gone a whole week this time haha.

China Glaze That's Shore Bright

Sun

Hello!  I have a quickie post for you today.  I'm still camping and hopefully haven't strangled anyone yet haha.  This is China Glaze That's Shore Bright from the new summer 2013 collection.  This is a nice, bright purple.  Not sure that I'd call it a neon but it's still pretty loud.  When I first put it on I wasn't sure I'd like it but as the day wore on I fell in love with it.  This is two coats of a just ok formula.  It was kinda streaky and now looking at pictures I think I should have done three coats.

Shade
So what do you think?  I picked this and a few others from this collection up that I'm sure you'll be seeing soon.

Until next time...

Sara

*I snuck away to Ulta to buy this polish during the Buy 2 Get 1 Free sale since apparently Sally's isn't getting this collection.*

Zoya Tinsley

Sun

Happy Friday folks!  This post and the next few have been scheduled in advance.  As you read this I will be off camping with Mr. MLiP, my boys, my parents and my sisters.  Should be a blast.  Although I'm sure it'll be hell on my nails.  Oh well!  Zoya Tinsley is from Zoya's summer 2013 collection.  I love summer polishes.  They are so much more me than fall stuff.  Tinsley took three coats to be absolutely perfect.  I don't really know how to explain the color of Tinsley so I'll just show you the photos.

Shade
Tinsley is like Zoya Rica's pink sister.  I just love it.  So did an old lady that came into my work.  She just raved about my nails.  It was super cute.  I hope you all have a great weekend.  Let's hope I'm not getting rained on everyday while camping.

Sara

*Mr. MLiP bought me this polish.  He doesn't know that though so shhh don't tell him.*

Patriotic Manicure

Hey lovlies!  Today I have a patriotic mani to show you.  Tomorrow is Independence Day here in the US so I thought a red, white and blue mani was in order.  I started with a base of OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls, probably the best white ever.  It only takes two coats to be even and streak free.  Amazing!  Then I did Shimmer Nichole (I was sent this for review) to do a reverse glitter gradient.  Shimmer's are the absolute best for doing glitter gradients.  The formula is just so smooth and easy to use.  My accent nail is stamped with Zoya Elisa and Song.  My stamping isn't perfect but I was dead set on having stars in this mani.  The first two photos were taken in a mostly sunny condition.  It's monsoon season here so the clouds roll in super fast and that's what happened while I was taking pictures.

I love that this mani turned out just like I was picturing it in my head.  My head's a weird place so it doesn't always work out this way haha.  If you'd like to see this Shimmer and so many other pretties click here to visit the etsy shop and here for the facebook page.  I hope you guys all have a fun and safe 4th of July celebration.  I'm still trying to decide if I should brave the heat and take my boys to see fireworks since I don't have to work the 4th this year.

Until next time...

Sara

*The Shimmer was sent to me for review purposes.  I bought the OPI and Zoyas myself.  As always all opinions good or bad are mine.*

Hit Polish Nail Lacquer Review

Press Sample

Sun

Good morning!  I hope you all had a wonderful weekend.  Here in the Phoenix area we had a hot weekend.  On Sunday my ac couldn't even keep up.  All day long it was a few degrees warmer in the house than I had the thermostat set at.  Anyway today I have pictures of two new polishes from Hit Polish Nail Lacquer that will be coming out July 15th.  First up is Jammin Good Time.  This polish has a clear base with pink and blue glitters in a variety of shapes and sizes with small silver glitter.  This is only one coat layered over Zoya Carey.  I'm amazed at how much glitter is on my nails with just one coat.  This is exactly the kind of polish quality I've come to expect from Hit Polish.  All photos show one coat of Gelous and topcoat over each polish.

Shade

The second polish I have for you today is Steampunk Revival.  This polish is a clear base with gold, copper and blue glitters in many different shapes and sizes.  It also has crescent moons and stars in it.  I layered one coat over China Glaze That's Shore Bright.  With one layer I got one moon out.  I did have to fish around a bit for the other moon and the star.  I love this color combo and can picture it layered over so many other colors.

I've told you guys before that Hit Polish Nail Lacquer is formerly D&R Apothecary, so this is not a new brand but more of a rebranding.  I was sent these polishes for review but have spent plenty of my own money on polishes from Hit Polish before.  The quality of these polishes is really good.  The glitters lay flat and you get plenty of glitter with each coat.  Be sure to check out Hit Polish Nail Lacquer's etsy shop, click here, on July 15th for these and so many other pretty new polishes.  You can stay up to date on sales and new polishes by giving her a like on facebook, here.  Hit Polish's rebranding means that she had to start over on her facebook page.  Can you all do me a favor and help get her likes up?  Pretty please with a sparkly polish on top?

I hope you all have a fabulous day!
