Hit Polish Nail Lacquer Superman

Hey everyone!  I'm sitting here enjoying some peace and quiet because everyone's in bed so I thought I'd write up a post.  Tonight I have Hit Polish Nail Lacquer Superman for you to enjoy.  I know the bottle says D&R Apothecary but that is this brands old name.  Superman is a blue jelly with red, blue and yellow glitters in it.  I think you'd be able to get it opaque in a few coats but I didn't want to wear that much glitter so I layered two coats over OPI No Room for the Blues.  This was a fun mani to wear.  I kept checking out my nails.

Okay so I've shown you Kryptonite and now Superman, both from Hit Polish Nail Lacquer.  Which one is your favorite?  I don't know that I can pick.  I love them both.  Check out Hit Polish on etsy here and on facebook here.  Have a great night and I'll talk with you soon.

*I bought this polish myself.  I was smart and got a full size, unlike Kryptonite when I only got a mini.*

Mentality Vigilance

Mentality Vigilance
Sun
Hey all!  Today I have Mentality Vigilance for your viewing pleasure.  I had high hopes for this polish. It's a great shade of blue but it just fell flat for me once I put it on.  This was my first Mentality polish and I really did want to love it.  The formula was okay.  It took two coats for full coverage.  You can see in the shade picture that there were some weird lumps in the polish.

Shade
I do think this polish would be great for stamping.  I want to try it as a pedicure color as well before I give up on it completely.  Do you have any experience with this brand?  What's your favorite?

Have a great day!

Sara

*I bought this polish myself in a fit of online shopping.  I need to get control of that.  Or get rid of my computer.  Whatever works.*

Sparkles by Julie True Blue

Sun

Good morning!  How was everybody's weekend?  Ours was crazy busy.  We had baseball and Mr. MLiP shot my little sisters senior pictures this weekend.  Of course we managed to choose the first day of the year to hit 100 degrees to go out and do this.  The four of us spent several hours hiking all over the Arizona State University campus.  Ugh!  I debated on posting today's polish because the indie maker is no longer open but ultimately I decided to go ahead with it.  She hasn't been closed that long and I see her polishes in trade groups or on blog sales so I figure people may need swatches still.  This is True Blue from Sparkles by Julie.  This is a gorgeous blue with little holo sparkles in it.  Two coats made it perfect and it was easy to apply.

Sun

Shade

I love everything about this polish.  I was lucky enough to get my hands on it during her close out sale thanks to a very sweet polish friend that I've made.  Sparkles by Julie was one of my favorite indies.  Now I need some new ones to stalk.  What is your favorite indie brand?  I'd love to take a look at it.  Thanks for stopping by today.

Girly Bits Cosmic Ocean

Sun
Look two posts in two days!  Amazing!  I really just wanted to make sure that I did a blue mani for Autism Awareness Day.  It's not a very imaginative mani but it is super gorgeous.  This is two coats of Girly Bits Cosmic Ocean over Zoya Natty.  Cosmic Ocean is definitely a layering polish.  It's super sheer but layered over other polishes, oh baby!

Sun
Shade
I basically want to slather Cosmic Ocean all over everything.  I've been told to try it over Revlon Royal and Zoya Wednesday.  I can't wait to try it out.  What do you think?  If you own this polish what is your favorite layering combo?  Have a great Tuesday!

*I bought this polish in a fit of launch fever over on llarowe.  It was like I was possessed and my alternate personality insisted on buying this and my first Enchanted as well.*

China Glaze Fancy Pants

Sun
Good morning!  Today I have my favorite polish from the Avant Garden collection.  This beauty is Fancy Pants.  Let me start by saying that my photos do not do this polish justice.  Fancy Pants is a gorgeous blue with a pink shimmer.  This is two coats of an amazing formula.  I decided to do a simple accent nail using the corner of scotch tape.  The pink I used is China Glaze Hang Ten Toes from the summer neon collection.

I seriously can't express how much I love this polish.  I love it so much I gave a sneak peek on my facebook page and I don't usually do that.  Do you have any favorites from this collection?

Until next time lovlies :)

*I bought this polish with my own money.  Just kidding, I used Mr. MLiP's money.*

Orly High on Hope

Sun
Hello and happy Monday!  Did you all have a nice weekend?  We did.  Hung out with friends, did some car shopping.  All in all not too bad.  Today I have the super pretty Orly High on Hope from their new spring collection.  I couldn't be more in love with this polish.  A lot of times this type of finish is disappointing to me.  Not this one.  It's a gorgeous blue with a pretty pink shimmer.  The formula was great, just two coats for a perfect finish.  All the photos have topcoat on them.

This color was so hard to photograph.  Do you see the pink shimmer in the bottle of the above picture? That pink was very obvious on my nails, even if it didn't want to come out in my photos.

Honestly I love everything about this polish.  I didn't even mind the new Orly bottles.  I will definitely be wearing this again on my fingers and on my toes.  I need to pick up a few more from this collection. They did a great job!  Have you gotten your hands on any yet?

Sara

*I bought this polish myself on the very first day the collection was out.  Pretty sure the ladies at my Sally's think I'm nuts*

China Glaze Hanging in the Balance

Good morning!  Yesterday it snowed here in the Phoenix area so I decided I needed a bright happy mani.  I mean, snow?  Really?  People around here freak out if it drops a few rain sprinkles so you can imagine how crazy snow makes it.  My facebook feed looked like the weather channel.  So today I have the gorgeous blue that is China Glaze Hanging in the Balance from the Cirque collection with It's a Trap-eze as an accent.  Hanging in the Balance is amazing, although I think it may be just a touch greener than my pictures show.  This is two coats.  The formula was a tad runny but super opaque.  I can't wait to wear it this summer on my toes.  It's a Trap-eze took four coats to get rid of the vnl I had going on.  I will definitely be layering it over something else next time.  I saw it on another blog this morning layered over a mint and it was really pretty.

It was sprinkling when I took these pictures so please excuse the water drops.  I ended up with quite a few more polishes from this collection than I thought I would.  Do you have a favorite from the Cirque collection?

Until next time,

Sara

*Santa brought me Hanging in the Balance in my stocking.  It's a Trap-eze took me three trips to Sally's to find.  That's what I call dedication.*

I'm a Twisted Tart

Ok so I'm not really a twisted tart but my nails are.  Today's mani is Finger Paints Twisted over Zoya Tart.  I have a little confession about the FP.  It's been sitting in my untrieds drawer for over a year.  My sisters gave it to me for Christmas right when it came out and then it just sat there.  I considered selling it a few times when the price was a bit out of control but I just couldn't.  I finally decided it was time to wear it so what you see here today is two coats of Twisted over two coats of Tart.  Twisted is a rainbow flakie polish that went on a little sparse, so it definitely needed two coats.  Tart is the perfect 4th of July blue and was opaque in two coats.

It was overcast the morning I took these pictures so I don't have a sun shot but honestly I think it shows the flakie better like this.  Are you a fan of flakies?  I still can't decide if I love them or am indifferent to them.  Maybe I just haven't found the right color combo.  I own four of the Finger Paints flakies, Nubar 2010 and CN Clairvoyant.  Do you have any layering combos that you've loved that you'd recommend I try out?

I hope you all have a great weekend!

My Vegas Nails!

Hey lovlies!  Today's post features the nails that I wore on my recent trip to Vegas.  This is China Glaze Running in Circles with Water You Waiting For sponged on using an eye shadow applicator.  Running in Circles is the most amazing green polish I own.  China Glaze does these glass flecks so well.  I used two coats for this manicure but in retrospect I should have used three.  I don't have any pictures of this in the sun because you could see major vnl and they looked terrible.  Then I sponged on Water You Waiting For.  I can't wait to wear this polish on its own.

Mr. MLiP loved these nails and I got several compliments on my trip.  Plus it wore like iron.  No chipping or anything while we were gone.  Do you have a favorite China Glaze glass fleck?  I feel like I should own them all.  It's my favorite polish finish.

Until next time,

Sara

*These are my very own polishes.  No one gave them to me.  Well, the girl at Sally's did but I have her money, so it doesn't count.*

China Glaze Little Drummer Boy & Glitter All the Way

Hello!  Quick post today about an awesome color that has been hanging out in my untrieds forever.  China Glaze Little Drummer Boy is a gorgeous dark blue with an amazing formula.  This one could easily be a one coater but since I didn't wrap my tips with the first coat, I did two.  I added a bit of China Glaze Glitter All the Way to my accent nail using an eyeshadow applicator to sponge it on.  It's a really dense glitter so it didn't work out quite the way I wanted but I like it anyhow.

Not the best pictures I've ever taken but it was weirdly overcast but still sunny outside.  I don't know what year Little Drummer Boy came out but I do know it's awesome.  I also think it would be good for stamping.  Do you have a favorite China Glaze holiday polish?

Sara

*I purchased this polish myself a long time ago.  Then it sat in my untrieds for atleast a year.  I have a problem, I know*

Essie Butler Please

Sun

Hi everyone!  Happy Wednesday.  The lovely polish I have today is from the Essie winter 2012 collection.  Butler Please is a super bright, in your face blue.  I love it so much.  The formula was super easy to work with.  This is two coats of Butler Please.  I added a nail sticker from Joby on my accent nail.  They recently had a sale and I picked up these super cute owl decals for $2.  Simple mani but I adored wearing it.  Mr. MLiP just kept saying "Oh wow, they're so blue."

Shade
I also wanted to let you know that I had zero staining with this blue when I took it off.  No smurf fingers here.  Butler Please looks really similar to my beloved Baker Street but I didn't get a chance to compare them.  Maybe I'll manage to do that someday :)  I hope you all have a great day.

Essie Bikini So Teeny

Shade

Every now and again I put on a polish and am completely blown away.  This happened with Essie Bikini So Teeny.  I had passed on this color so many times because I thought it was just another boring blue cream.  I'm happy to say I was so wrong, so very wrong.  I finally picked it up from a blog sale and I'm in love.  Bikini So Teeny has a very subtle shimmer that isn't really noticeable on the nail but it does give this awesome color great depth.  Bikini is a pale blue that manages to be very vibrant.  It does pull a little to the purple side of things.  This is three thin coats.  After two I still had a few patchy spots.

Sun

Sun
Mr. MLiP took the first picture in the shade because the nail decal came out better on my right hand.  I can't operate the camera very well with my left hand.  The decal on my left hand had a bit of an issue.  It folded up on itself when I was putting it on and caused that weird break in the line.  It was completely user error.  I love these water decals from kkcenterhk.com.  I like that they don't stick up like nail stickers.  Here's the link for the decals I used this time.  Don't forget to use the code mylifeinpolish to save 10% if you order from them.

Have you ever passed on a polish repeatedly just to realize that you should have bought it right away?  Have a great day!

KBShimmer Shipwreck

Sun
Hi everyone!  I hope you all had a better weekend than I did.  Mr. MLiP has strep so if I'm missing the next few days it's because I've caught it and am not getting off the couch.  For now though I have a quick post showing KBShimmer Shipwreck.  This polish is a blue jelly with different color hexes and a tad of mini copper and gold glitters.  It's super pretty.  I'm pretty sure you can get this opaque with a few more coats than I did but I didn't have the patience for that.  My photos show two coats of Shipwreck over one coat of China Glaze First Mate.  Not only was First Mate the perfect color for this, the names go together so well, First Mate and Shipwreck.  I know, I know, I'm not very funny.

Shade
Shipwreck was really easy to work with.  The glitter distributed very well.  I used one coat of Gelous then topcoat and everything was very smooth.  Do you have any KBShimmer polishes?  What's your favorite?  Have a great night!

Essie Bobbing for Baubles & Finger Paints Fall of Surprises

Sun
Hi lovelies!  How is everyone today?  Do you ever do an accent nail then later wish you'd done the whole mani that way?  That's the case with today's nails.  This is two coats of Essie Bobbing for Baubles with an accent nail using Finger Paints Fall of Surprises.  Bobbing for Baubles is a super dark navy.  Honestly it looked black a good majority of the time.  It had a great formula and was almost full coverage in one coat.  Fall of Surprises is a copper glitter.  This is one coat of FoS.  I really,  really wish I would have done the glitter on all my nails.  I really enjoyed this combo.

Shade
Do you have any other suggestions on what I could put under Fall of Surprises?  I really want to wear it again very soon.  Thanks for stopping by.

Nails Inc Baker Street & Zoya Maisie

Shade

Hello!  Is everyone having a good afternoon?  I know it's almost fall and a lot of folks are starting to transition to fall colors but here in Phoenix it's still really warm.  Supposed to be 105 or so tomorrow.  I'm still wearing a lot of bright, bright colors.  Today is Nails Inc Baker Street (pretty much the best bright blue ever) and Zoya Maisie.  My nails look like little water scenes.  Love might be an understatement for this mani.  Baker Street has the most perfect formula ever.  Two super easy coats and it was flawless.  Maisie is a blue/green flakie in a translucent blue base.  I used one coat of Maisie.

Sun
The shade pictures came out so much better.  It was so hard to capture any of the blue/green shift of the flakies.  I hope you all have a fantastic weekend.  Feel free to stop by my facebook page and share your mani pics with me.

Zoya Natty

Hey guys!  Did you have a good weekend?  We had lots of fun here in the MLiP house.  Both boys had their first soccer games of the season.  For my 4 yr old it was his first soccer game ever.  I have a great photo to show you after the polish talk.  I also saw my first 3D movie today, Finding Nemo.  I love Dori so much.  Anyhow, today I have Zoya Natty to show you.  Now the photo isn't the best because the sun disappeared for 4 days.  That's unheard of for Phoenix this time of year.  Natty took two coats to be absolutely perfect.  The formula was fantastic.  Natty is a dusty medium blue.  I used the saran wrap technique on my accent nail.  I painted two coats of Zoya Carey and let it dry.  Then one coat of Natty and I used a balled up piece of saran wrap to remove some of the polish.  I love this super easy nail art technique.

Have you tried this type of nail art yet?  What are your favorite color combos for this?  I hope you have a great Monday.  And as promised here is a picture of Beckett trying to do a jumping jack.  Mr. MLiP caught B in mid air.  I love this picture so much.

KBShimmer Watercolor

Sun

Hello!  Is everyone enjoying the long weekend?  We've just been hanging out, having some family time.  We did family movie night last night and the boys picked The Three Stooges for us to watch.  Not my favorite but they liked it.  Anyway on to the reason you're here.  Today I have KBShimmer Watercolor to show you.  Supposedly Watercolor can be worn on it's own in three or so coats but I really don't like wearing that much glitter so I layered two coats of Watercolor over China Glaze Splish Splash.  I really liked this mani.  The formula of Watercolor was great.  Plenty of glitter payoff and no super bald spots.

Shade
I really enjoyed wearing this color.  Do you have a favorite KBShimmer polish?  I'm really wanting Elle right now.  Have a great Sunday!

Zoya FeiFei

Sun

Happy Saturday!  I've got a quick post for you today featuring Zoya FeiFei.  Zoya describes FeiFei as a steel blue base with gold, blue and pink iridescent metallic sparkles.  There's been a lot of talk about this being similar to Zoya Crystal which I had and swapped away.  I am happy to report that they are very different.  I went shopping the other morning with Janelle from Heartfully, Janelle and she brought her Crystal so we could compare them.  This is two coats of FeiFei and topcoat.  The formula was really great and very easy to control.

Shade
FeiFei is from the newly released Diva collection for fall.  I hope to get a few more from this collection soon.  Do you have a favorite from the new Zoya collections?  Have a great day!

Rainbow Favorites: Blue

Picking a favorite blue was super hard.  I have lots of blues.  Orly Sweet Peacock is so stunning it just had to be shown today.  This polish freaked my camera out so bad though.  Sweet Peacock is a foil with a great two coat formula.  On my ring finger I did China Glaze Lorelei's Tiara.  I love this combo.

Sorry this post is so late today.  I'll be back tomorrow morning with purple.

Stamping Plates Review

Hi Everyone!

Recently I was contacted by kkcenterhk.com to review a few stamping plates. After conversing back and forth a bit I was sent two plates and a stamper/scraper. The plates I used today are B17 and B47. I used a few images from both plates.

Now let me tell you the story of two stampers and scrapers. The first pictures show two coats of Zoya Trixie stamped with WnW Black Creme, my go to black for stamping. For the Trixie pictures I used the stamper and scraper provided to me. The images didn't fully transfer every time I did it. At first I thought it was just me because all plates have a learning curve.

You can see several spots that don't look filled in. The flower on my ring finger looks the worst I think. It's like the stamper just wasn't picking up all the polish from the plate. I was bummed. So I decided to try the plates with my Konad stamper and scraper. Holy cow what a difference! The next couple of pictures are three coats of Zoya Phoebe and stamping with Konad special white. The difference is amazing. Full images were picked up and transfered. I did the flower again and I love it. I can see this being so fun using multiple colors.

I should point out that the smearing on the first finger is a result of me trying to put my son's shoes on. It is not a result of the plates. So it boils down to, I love the plates and really dislike the stamper. You can click the plate numbers above to check them and others out.

Thanks for stoping by today!
