Essie In the Cabana

Essie In the Cabana
Essie In the Cabana

Hey all!  In one of my nail groups we are doing an alphabet mani challenge.  Each week we do a different letter.  This week is E so I went with Essie In the Cabana, a favorite of mine.  I love turquoise and coral together so much that I added a coat of Kiara Sky Koral Kicks.  I adored wearing this mani.  It was rainy and gross this day making for a dark photo.  Sorry about that!

Until next time...

Born Pretty Store Stamping Plate Review

*Press Sample*

Hey guys!  I have a quick review of a Born Pretty Store stamping plate for you today.  I started with a base of Essie Mojito Madness and stamped an image from plate QA87 using Rica Gloomy Sunday.  I didn't have any issues with this plate.  I stamped several of the images on a piece of paper and they all picked up very well.

I love gray and green together but this mani was hard to photograph.  The gray was much easier to see in person.  Born Pretty Store has a ton of great nail art products.  Click here to see the plate I used.  Also, don't forget to use code FEMJ61 to save 10% on regular priced purchases.

Have a great day!

Born Pretty Store Water Decal Review

*Press Sample of Water Decals*

Hello!  Today I have a review of Born Pretty Store water decals.  I like to call them instant nail art.  You guys all know that I'm not very good at nail art so these are perfect for me.  They are so simple to use.  Start by cutting out the piece you want to use and remove the plastic covering.  Then I use tweezers to hold it in a little dish of water for about 10 seconds.  The decal should then slide right off the backing.  Place them on your nail and when it's positioned the way you want soak up any water using a paper towel.

I started with a base color of Essie Find Me An Oasis with a quick dry top coat.  Once it was reasonably dry I added the decal and then top coated it again.  Easy peasy lemon squeezy!

If you'd like to see these specific decals click here.  The Born Pretty store has a ton of great, affordable nail art.  Use code FEMJ61 to save 10% on your regular priced purchases.  I have some other Born Pretty goodies to show you in the upcoming week so stay tuned.

Have a great night!

Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer Birthday WIshes

*Purchased by me*

Sun

Hey all!  Today I have a polish from one of my favorite indies, Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer.  I found Birthday Wishes on a blog sale a while back and snapped it up.  It's a pretty blue with purple shimmer.  It's pretty sheer so I layered two coats over Essie Mesmerized.  My accent nail is China Glaze Too Yacht To Handle because I just love these two colors together.

Sun
I hope you all have a great weekend!  I'm off to Vegas in the morning with Mr. MLiP, my best friend and her husband.  It's going to be epic!

Until next time...

Jessica Electric Teal

*Purchased by me*

Hello!  Tonight I'd like to introduce you to my new favorite teal polish.  That's right China Glaze Turned up Turquoise has been knocked down a notch buy Jessica Electric Teal.  I put this on and seriously had no words.  This is two coats plus topcoat.  Look at that shimmery goodness!  Now look at it again!  It's so pretty.  My accent nail is a base color of Essie Sunday Funday and then I used the lightening bolt shape from Nail Vinyls.  Another coat of Electric Teal then topcoated it all.  Super fun mani for sure.  Both pictures were taken in the sun to show off all that shimmering goodness.

Are you a teal junkie like I am?  If so what's your favorite teal polish?  I hope you all have a great night.

Until next time...

New Year's Nails

Hello everyone!  Today for your viewing pleasure I have my New Year's nails.  Now since I suck at nail art and didn't have a ton of time I went pretty simple.  Almost too simple because the glitter curves were not visible in a lot of settings.  I used Essie Mesmerize as my base color.  Two nice even coats and it was perfect.  I think this polish just needed to age a bit because the first time I ever wore it the application was super streaky and uneven.  This time it was fabulous.  Then once that was dry I used french tip guides turned sideways to add some glitter sparkle in the form of Elevation Pitaraq.  I did two quick coats of Pitaraq and then topcoated it all.

I hope you all had a great New Year's!

Sara

PS:  No sun picture today because this mani sucked in the direct sunlight.

Minnie's Cashmere Bathrobe

Sun

Good morning!  Today I have a two accent nail mani for you and honestly I'm not sure how I feel about it.  I like both polishes and I like them together but I'm not completely sold on two accent nails.  This is Essie Cashmere Bathrobe with OPI Minnie Style accent nails.  Originally I wasn't going to get Cashmere Bathrobe because even though I love grays, I already have a ton.  When I walked by it at the supply store I just couldn't resist.  Then a lovely nail polish friend of mine send me Minnie Style, with the squares (squeee) and I just knew I had to wear them together.

I had read some complaints about the formula on Cashmere Bathrobe but mine was really good.  Two coats made it perfectly opaque.  It was a bit on the thinner side but applied well.  Minnie Style on the other had was kind of a pain, too much base in relation to the amount of glitter.  I used two coats of Minnie Style but kept getting mostly clear polish on my brush.  There was a learning curve with this one for sure.

Shade
All in all this was a good mani, not great but good.  If you own Minnie Style what do you think of it?  Have a great Thursday everyone!

Essie Naughty Nautical and Sunday Funday

Essie Naughty Nautical Sunday Funday
Sun
Hello everyone!!  Today I have two polishes from the new Essie summer collection that were just made to wear together.  Naughty Nautical is a gorgeous teal with shimmer and Sunday Funday is a great coral with shimmer as well.  I love them both but we all know how I feel about teals so it's definitely my favorite.  The formula on both polishes was really good actually.  Naughty Nautical was almost perfect in one coat.  This mani is two coats with topcoat.  I used my dotting tool to add dots with Naughty to my Sunday Funday accent nail.

Shade
So have you picked up any from this collection yet?  I kinda still want the greenish yellowish one but I know that's not my kinda color.  Since I love teals so much I'd love to know, what is your all time favorite teal polish?  I don't know that I can even answer that question haha.

Until next time my lovelies...

Sara

*I stalked two different Targets for over a week to find these polishes.  Then when I found them Mr. MLiP told me I had to wait to buy them.  Sad times for sure.*

Nicole by OPI Pick of the Glitter

Nicole by OPI Pick of the Glitter
Sun
Hello!  How is everyone tonight (or early morning depending on where you are)?  A while back I was at Target and came across this cool glitter polish by NOPI.  So of course I whipped out my phone and proceeded to google NOPI Pick of the Glitter.  I got zero results.  Not a single picture.  So of course I bought it haha.  Pick of the Glitter is a super cool mix of large gold hexes, medium teal glitters and little copper glitters in a clear base.  It's pretty amazing.  I layered it over Essie She's Picture Perfect.  It was a match made in heaven.  The formula of the glitter was outstanding.

Shade

Shade
This was a fun mani to wear.  I'll definitely be wearing this again.  I know that most people have a love/hate relationship with NOPI?  What do you think of them?

Have a great night!

Sara

*I bought this polish myself.  Glad I took a chance on a polish that I couldn't find a pic of in advance.*

Essie First Timer and a Comparison

Sun
Hey guys!  Happy Earth Day!  I don't have any fancy nails for you today but I do have a green mani.  Essie First Timer is from the new resort collection that just came out.  I love most greens, especially soft pretty ones, so I snatched this up right away.  First Timer is a nice soft, but bright, spring green.  It was perfect in two coats.  The polish was easy to control and I didn't have any issues with streakiness or patchiness.

Sun

Shade
This is the first polish in a while that I was so excited about that I put it on right after buying it, then when I took it off my fingers I put it on my toes.  What's the last polish that had you this excited?

While talking about this polish in a facebook nail group a friend asked how it compared to Mojito Madness, another favorite green of mine.  So I did up a quick comparison for you all.  They are definitely different.  Pointer and ring finger have Mojito Madness and my middle and pinky fingers have First Timer on them.  Which one do you prefer?  I'm kinda in love with them both :)

Have a great Monday and I'll talk with you again soon.

Sara

*I purchased this polish with my own funds.  I was so excited to see it that I paid full price for it.  That never happens.  My mom would be horrified.  Don't tell her.*

Paris Sparkles Pink Cellophane

Sun

Hello!  I hope everyone is having a fabulous day.  Today I have a polish from a new to me indie called Paris Sparkles.  Last week Paris Sparkles was having a sale for bloggers and I jumped at the chance to try out a new indie.  Today's polish is Pink Cellophane and I have to say in the bottle it looks just like pink cellophane.  It's a shimmery, sheer pink with a slight green shimmer, iridescent small glitters and larger hex glitters.  To show off this cool polish I have two coats layered over Essie Mojito Madness and Sation Tardy Tart.  The formula of Pink Cellophane was really great.  Even coverage with each coat.  My only complaint is the larger hex glitters did not want to come out of the bottle.  I had to fish around for the few I got.  Other than that I love this combo so much, which is weird because it's so not me.

Sun

Shade

I tried to capture the green shimmer on the purple nail but it just didn't want to be shown.  I'm not in love with my photos of this but I took a ton and this was as good as it got.  You can check out Paris Sparkles on facebook here and on etsy here.  I hope you enjoyed this color combo.  Have a great day!

Sara

*I purchased this polish during a sale for bloggers.  The savings in no way influenced my opinions of this polish.  It just allowed me to buy more to show you.*

Sonnetarium Lenten Rose

Shade

Happy Friday lovelies!  I'm so glad the weekend is here.  Makes me a happy polish nut.  Sometimes when I think up my layering/color combinations they don't always work out.  I'm happy to report this is not the case with this mani.  I'm so in love with this.  Today for your viewing pleasure I have Essie Where's My Chauffer with an Illamasqua Jo'mina accent nail all covered in a single coat of Sonnetarium Lenten Rose.  I've showed you the wonderful Where's My Chauffer before and Jo'mina is basically the perfect purple.  Lenten Rose is an amazing glitter made up of light pink, white and iridescent glitters in a clear base.  I got all this great glitter in one coat.  Yep just one coat.

Shade

Shade
Sonnetarium make very high quality polishes.  The application is sublime and the formula is amazing.  There was no clumping or dabbing or swirling.  Lenten Rose just slid right on.  I have other polishes from this brand that are the same amazing quality.  I know I'm gushing but these are seriously amazing and well worth every cent.  Click here to go check out their shop and here to give them a like on facebook.  I think Lenten Rose is out of stock currently but there are lots of other lovelies to look at.  Be sure to check out charity prototype section.  I ordered two this morning and can not wait until they get here.

Have a great weekend!

*I purchased this polish with my very own money.  Okay maybe it was Mr. MLiP's money*

Essie Butler Please

Sun

Hi everyone!  Happy Wednesday.  The lovely polish I have today is from the Essie winter 2012 collection.  Butler Please is a super bright, in your face blue.  I love it so much.  The formula was super easy to work with.  This is two coats of Butler Please.  I added a nail sticker from Joby on my accent nail.  They recently had a sale and I picked up these super cute owl decals for $2.  Simple mani but I adored wearing it.  Mr. MLiP just kept saying "Oh wow, they're so blue."

Shade
I also wanted to let you know that I had zero staining with this blue when I took it off.  No smurf fingers here.  Butler Please looks really similar to my beloved Baker Street but I didn't get a chance to compare them.  Maybe I'll manage to do that someday :)  I hope you all have a great day.

Different Dimension That Is So Fetch

Good morning!  Quick post for you today because my little guy's 5th birthday is this weekend and I've got to get moving to get all the party stuff done.  Plus add in the end of the soccer season for both boys and doing their pictures on Sunday, we have one busy weekend.  Today I have Different Dimension That is so Fetch for your viewing pleasure.  I recently acquired the purple version of Essie Lilacism and just knew it would be the perfect base for That is so Fetch.  This is two coats over Lilacism.  I'm so in love with this combo.  I got a ton of compliments on it.  The glitter was super easy to use and the formula was great.

Sadly there was no sun the day I took these photos but I just had to show you the pretty, pretty polish.  If you're interested in seeing this or anything else Different Dimension has to offer click here to head over to her etsy shop.  I plan on wearing Doppelgänger this weekend.

Have a great day!

Essie Bikini So Teeny

Shade

Every now and again I put on a polish and am completely blown away.  This happened with Essie Bikini So Teeny.  I had passed on this color so many times because I thought it was just another boring blue cream.  I'm happy to say I was so wrong, so very wrong.  I finally picked it up from a blog sale and I'm in love.  Bikini So Teeny has a very subtle shimmer that isn't really noticeable on the nail but it does give this awesome color great depth.  Bikini is a pale blue that manages to be very vibrant.  It does pull a little to the purple side of things.  This is three thin coats.  After two I still had a few patchy spots.

Sun

Sun
Mr. MLiP took the first picture in the shade because the nail decal came out better on my right hand.  I can't operate the camera very well with my left hand.  The decal on my left hand had a bit of an issue.  It folded up on itself when I was putting it on and caused that weird break in the line.  It was completely user error.  I love these water decals from kkcenterhk.com.  I like that they don't stick up like nail stickers.  Here's the link for the decals I used this time.  Don't forget to use the code mylifeinpolish to save 10% if you order from them.

Have you ever passed on a polish repeatedly just to realize that you should have bought it right away?  Have a great day!

OPI The Living Daylights

Good morning lovelies!  Today I have OPI The Living Daylights to show you.  This polish came out really recently.  The OPI James Bond collection has some cool polishes but so far I've only picked up this one and Goldeneye.  I layered The Living Daylights over Essie Mint Candy Apple so you could really see all the different colors in the glitter.  Side note, I hardcore love Mint Candy Apple.  TLD didn't want to spread on my nails so I had to put a drop of polish on the nail then wipe off all the excess base in the bottle then spread the glitter around.  Really was a lot of work.  I like the polish but wish it was easier to put on.

It was weirdly overcast out when I took these photos so the top one was taken in slightly darker light.  I really need someone to make me a light box.  I hope you all enjoyed this combo.  What color would you layer this over?

A Comparison of Two Pretty Colors

Sun
Good morning!  I have a comparison for you today of Essie Where's My Chauffer and China Glaze Aquadelic.  I love comparison posts.  Really should do them more.  Sadly I don't have a catchy name for my comparison that I haven't seen used yet.  If you have any suggestions send them my way :)

As you can see these are super similar.  The Essie is on my pinky and middle finger.  CG is on my pointer and ring finger.  The Essie is just a shade bluer.  I will say that the formula on Where's My Chauffer is better though.  Since I'm a total sucker for these shades I'll be keeping them both for now even though I know Mr. MLiP would say they were the same.

Shade
I hope this helps some of you.  If you ever have dupe requests please tell me and if I have the color I'd be happy to take some pictures.

Essie Where's My Chauffer & Beyond Cozy

Sun
Hey all!  This evening I have my actual nail of the day to share with you.  I've had naked nails for a few days after having the MOHs procedure done to remove skin cancer.  I wasn't allowed to wear polish for it.  I really disliked having to go around with my funky, naked nails.  Anyway to perk myself up I went for two Essie polishes from their new winter collection.  Today I have Where's My Chauffer (those that know me had to see this coming) and Beyond Cozy.  Where's My Chauffer is a gorgeous blue leaning turquoise.  I have some similar colors so hopefully I'll be able to get up a comparison for you all.  This is two coats of WMC.  The formula was pretty good.  It wanted to drag a bit so I suggest waiting a few minutes between coats.

Sun
My accent nail is Essie Beyond Cozy.  Not my usual style of polish but for some reason it was calling to me.  I love this so much.  It's a silver and gold glitter.  In the store and inside it leans more gold and outside in the sun it pulls more silver on me.  Mr. MLiP says I'm nuts and it just looks gold all the time.  The formula on this one is fantastic.  This is two coats for full coverage.  It is so sparkly outside.  Can't wait to wear it as a full mani.

Shade
Have you picked up any of the new Essie collection?  I kinda want the blue one still.  Have a great night and I'll talk with you soon.

Essie Bobbing for Baubles & Finger Paints Fall of Surprises

Sun
Hi lovelies!  How is everyone today?  Do you ever do an accent nail then later wish you'd done the whole mani that way?  That's the case with today's nails.  This is two coats of Essie Bobbing for Baubles with an accent nail using Finger Paints Fall of Surprises.  Bobbing for Baubles is a super dark navy.  Honestly it looked black a good majority of the time.  It had a great formula and was almost full coverage in one coat.  Fall of Surprises is a copper glitter.  This is one coat of FoS.  I really,  really wish I would have done the glitter on all my nails.  I really enjoyed this combo.

Shade
Do you have any other suggestions on what I could put under Fall of Surprises?  I really want to wear it again very soon.  Thanks for stopping by.

Rainbow Favorites: Green

Today in the Rainbow Challenge is green.  I have and love lots of greens.  I choose Essie Pretty Edgy to show you because it was one of my gateway polishes.  Originally I bought a mini of this and Demure Vixen.  I decided I love them both so much I bought them in full size and gave the minis to my sister.  Pretty Edgy has some formula issues but I just love the color so much I'll over look them.  This is three coats of green gorgeousness.

What is your favorite green?  Another green I love is Mojito Madness.  Luckily it has none of the formula issues of this polish.  Down below is a list of everyone else that is doing the challenge.
