Essie Play Date

Just a quick post for you today. I had food poisoning over the weekend so my house is a disaster and I should be cleaning it but instead here I am. Play Date is a gorgeous purple cream. The formula was great and it took two coats to be opaque. I layered one coat of Essie Pure Pearlfection over top and it was love at first site. This mani wore like iron as well.

And just for fun here's Cooper. He helps me take pictures in the backyard. Aren't his big bat ears so cute? His partner in crime, Kali, wouldn't stand still long enough to have her photo taken.

Cult Nails Mazo

Hey everyone! Happy Friday!

Today I have Cult Nails Mazo to show you. You know, I wasn't really interested in this polish until I saw some pictures of it layered over other colors. I'm going to show you what it looks like on its own with three coats. It's super sheer so I still had visible nail line. Not really my kind of color but the formula was fabulous and the gold shimmer is awesome. The first two pictures are in the sun and the third is in shade. The last picture is layering options.

I've tried to crop this photo down three times and it keeps loading the uncropped one. Ugh! Anyway, ignore the flakies. The green is China Glaze Starboard and one coat of Mazo. Next is CG First Mate and one coat of Mazo. Next up is CG Life Preserver and one coat of Mazo. Lastly is Zoya Cynthia and one coat of Mazo. I love these layering combos and can't wait to try them all as full a full mani.

Do you have any Cult Nails? I can't wait for their spring collection. Have a great day!

Cult Nails Toxic Seaweed

Today I have the gorgeous Cult Nails Toxic Seaweed. I'm so happy to have this polish. When trying to decide what color to layer TS over I really wanted something that would keep it as close to the bottle color as possible. I have nail wheels that I try different combinations out on. To go with this I have a notebook that I write down all the combos in so I won't forget what they are. I can't be the only one doing this right? Okay maybe I am. So I tried Toxic Seaweed over Sinful Colors Kissy, Cult Nails Let Me Fly and Finger Paints Scenery Greenery. The Finger Paints got me closest to the bottle color on TS. It did look really neat over Kissy as well. Take a look at the pictures and let me know what you think. This is two coats of Scenery Greenery and two coats of Toxic Seaweed.

By the way, if you see anything that looks kinda foggy or blue on my nails it's because I dropped my bottle of Butter London Victoriana on the patio. I didn't realize it was on my nails until half way though taking pictures. I very carefully used some remover to clean it off and reapplied topcoat to save my mani.

Do you see all those pretty coppery flakies in there? Love love love! Maria of Cult Nails mentioned that Toxic Seaweed may be limited edition due to trouble sourcing ingredients so head over and check it out soon.

Have a great Saturday!

CND Copper Shimmer

Today I have a super quick layering post for you. This is two coats of the lovely Zoya Kelly with one coat of CND Copper Shimmer. I absolutely love this mani. I tried Copper Shimmer over a bunch of colors and my favorites were Zoya Kelly and Essie Pretty Edgy. I'm sure I'll be wearing the Essie combo soon. Check it out!

This last picture was taken in the shade. The other two are in full sun. I liked this shimmer so much I ordered a few others that should be here this week. Yay! Do you own any CND effects? Which is your favorite?

Have a great Monday!

Butter London Knackered

Good morning!

Today I'm going to show you the polish that made my husband laugh at me. I swore based on swatches online that I didn't want Knackered. Plus I usually wouldn't spend $14 on a polish. I only have one other bl that I bought with a coupon. Well, the other night we were in Ulta and I was looking at it. It looks so amazing in the bottle. Since we had just gotten our tax refund, I splurged. I started with two coats of China Glaze First Matt and layered two coats of Knackered over it. I tried a few different combos on a nail wheel and I really liked how First Mate gave Knackered a little bit of blueness to it. Warning! There are a lot of pictures today. Now check it out and let me know what you think.

First two photos below are in the shade. The one above and the last two are in full sun.

So pretty! I really do like this. Can't wait to try it over a few other colors. Do you own Knackered? What's your favorite to layer it over?

Have a happy Friday and I'll talk with you soon.

A Whimsical Sea Spray

Good Morning!

Today I am wearing two coats of China Glaze Sea Spray topped with one coat of Revlon Whimsical. I'm sure you've all heard that Whimsical is supposed to be a dupe of Deborah Lippmann Glitter in the Air. I don't know about that but I do know that I love Whimsical way more than I thought I would. I'll admit I picked it up because of all the hype but for under $4 I love it. Oh and I just adore Sea Spray as well. Two perfectly even coats for a beautiful mani all by itself.

Check it out!

Before wearing this I tried a bunch of layering combos on some nail wheels. Whimsical looked best over Sea Spray and China Glaze Kinetic Candy. So did you pick up Whimsical? What is your favorite color to layer it over?

Have a great day!

Essence Blossoms I Like

Hi Everyone,

Sorry my post is a little late today. I have a sick kid home from school. I am in love with today's mani. This is two coats of Essence Blossoms I Like and a coat of Essie Kisses and Bisses on top. I am completely enamored with this. I didn't get to wear it long because of the serious deep cleaning of my house before my inlaws came to town. This will be worn again soon. Check it out!

The layered pictures were all taken outside with overcast skies. The picture of I Like by itself was in the sun. Sorry about the lack of clean up on the I Like picture, I wasn't done yet but I wanted you to see how pretty it is by itself.

What do you think? I can't seem to stop layering polishes lately. What is your all time favorite layering combo?

Have a great Monday!

Color Club Blue-topia and some Finger Paints flakies

Good morning!
Apparently it's flaky week here at My Life in Polish and no one told me. As I was writing this up I realized all my posts this week have featured flakies. Seems like they are so much easier to get all of a sudden. Anyway, Color Club Blue-topia is an awsome blue polish. It went on in two easy coats. Sorry I don't have pictures of it by itself because I did my nails at night. On top of Blue-topia I layered one coat of Finger Paints Motley and Flecked. Now this wasn't my idea but when I saw in on facebook I knew I had to try it out.

Check out this awesomeness!

I'm so in love with this! I can't wait to try these same two flakies over a green. Maybe Artsy, Crafty from the same Color Club collection. Have you tried any of the FP flakies yet? What do you think?

Until next time,
Sara

Cult Nails Let Me Fly and Clairvoyant

Good morning! Today I have the amazing combo of Cult Nails Let Me Fly and Clairvoyant (aka Unicorn Puke). I love, love, love this mani. Let Me Fly is a gorgeous teal with a very pretty shimmer. It went on in two effortless coats. Just like we've all come to expect from Cult Nails.

Isn't that just amazing? Then to make it even better I added a coat of Cult Nails Clairvoyant. I'm sure you've all heard of Unicorn Puke. This is the same polish with a different name. It has multi-colored flakies in a purple tinted base. So pretty I just want to put in on everything!

Told you it was amazing! I don't even have the proper words to describe this. On a funny note, when I was trying this out on a nail wheel, I showed my husband and he said "That looks like unicorns". I know my husband has never heard of Unicorn Puke so it made me laugh.

Have a great day!

China Glaze Kinetic Candy and Essie Shine of the Times

Hi Lovelies,

I recently took a trip to my favorite nail supply store and he had a display of the new China Glaze Electro Pop collection. I only picked up one, Kinetic Candy. The only other one I considered was Electric Beat but my sister bought it so I figure I can just use hers. I had trouble with the formula on this one. It was weirdly streaky and didn't want to level out. I wasn't too worried though because I knew I was going to layer Essie Shine of the Times on top. Such an amazing combo! I loved it. The swatch of Kinetic Candy is two coats with no topcoat. Cleanup wasn't great because I knew I wasn't done yet.

Pretty color but see all that streaking.

I will definitely have to give this color another shot. Maybe it was just me. I think the right topcoat may have leveled it all out. I love Seche Vite for that reason but I hate all the shrinkage it gives. What is your favorite topcoat?

Take care,
Sara

Color Club Holiday Splendor

Today I have the awesome Color Club Holiday Splendor from the Beyond the Mistletoe collection. I decided to go ahead and layer it over black. I love the way this looks. My oldest son was also impressed. He made me promise to wear it again soon when I had to take it off after an unfortunate chipping incident at work. Holiday Splendor has some holo glitter in it that my poor camera was trying so hard to capture. Didn't work so well. Take my word for it, this polish is gorgeous.

Again due to sucko weather these photos were taken inside, next to the window.

Hope you're all having a wonderful day!

Joe Fresh Peacock and Essie As Gold as it Gets

I got my first Canadian nail mail and couldn't be more excited. I got Joe Fresh Peacock and Twilight. I also received Gosh Ocean and Green Dragon. They are all amazing. Today I'm going to show you Peacock with a layer of Essie As Gold as it Gets. Total stunner! So far this is the only Luxeffects I have picked up but I've been eyeballing two others.

Check out the pictures! There are a ton. Sorry about the less than stellar clean up. It's been weirdly cloudy here and I was trying to hurry to catch at least a little sun. All the pictures are outside with cloudy sun (I know, that doesn't really make sense, just go with it).

Here is a picture of Peacock by itself. So amazing! Can't wait to wear this as a pedi color!

What do you think of my first Canadian polish? Are there any other Joe's I must own?

Have a great day!

China Glaze Concrete Catwalk and CG in the City

full sun

So are you all tired of gray yet? No? Good, me either! I knew I would get Concrete Catwalk as soon as I saw the pictures. Such a shiny, pretty gray. Looks like wet cement. My pictures are two coats with no topcoat. Usually I always have topcoat on in my pictures but I was getting ready to layer CG in the City over it. Now I hadn't even planned on getting CG in the City but then I saw this mani (scroll down a bit to see it) over at Rebecca Likes Nails and this mani (her's looks way better than mine) at Ice Queen's Nail Parlour. I know, I know...I'm a huge copy cat but both of these are amazing. Check it out!

Now I want to layer CG in the City over everything. What else should I try?

Have a great day!

OPI Mani Ways to Help

I wasn't sure if I was even going to post this but I need a recomendation so here I am. This is 2 coats of OPI Mani Ways to Help over 2 coats of Essie Marshmallow. I picked this up because it reminded me of one of my all time favorites, Zoya Ginessa. The problem is Ginessa is opaque in 2 coats and MWTH is very sheer. So I figured I would layer it. So I grabbed Marshmallow, which I had never used and is it's own weird mess, and layered MWTH over it. I'm thinking that maybe the Essie just wasn't a bright enough white. I hated this mani so much and that makes me sad. I want to retry MWTH over a really stark white. So this is where I need your help. What's your favorite white polish that doesn't take a billion coats to be opaque and not streaky? Help me please!

See what I mean? It's like it was to dull or something. Sorry about the glitter around my nails that was left over from my previous mani :)

So what do you thing?
